The motif of this 2001 Desiree Christmas plate from the Porcelain Factory Desiree, also known as DĂ©sirĂ©e Denmark, Svend Jensen of Denmark, Old Copenhagen Blue is The Royal Castle “Fredensborg”. Like the Christmas plate last year the motif on this year plate has not been found in a specific Hans Christian Andersen fairytale either. Instead the motif is Fredensborg Castle where Hans Christian Andersen often was invited as the Kings visitor. The Christmas plate was designed by Lis TorbĂžl. DĂ©sirĂ©e started the Christmas plate series in 1970 and ended in 2002. All motifs of the Hans Christian Andersen Christmas plates from DĂ©sirĂ©e were inspired by Hans Christian AndersenÂŽs Fairytales
