Skating Couple 1927, Bing & Grondahl Christmas Plate

1927 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate, designed by Achton Friis, has the title Skating Couple. Bing & Grondahl’s Christmas plate from 1927 depicts a young couple ice skating on the frozen lake. In 1927 primarily lakes and shallow waters were used by primarily children to skate, whereas nowadays almost any big town has an artificial ice rink, and many cities have also made outdoor skating facilities in their squares, during the cold period. The best known of these is the skating rink on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen.
