Jingle Bells 1984, Royal Copenhagen Christmas Plate

1984 Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate, designed by Kaj Lange, has the title Jingle Bells. Royal Copenhagen’s Christmas plate from 1984 may be seen as a continuation of the story of Christmas traditions, but whereas the plates from 1979 to 1983 show tra- ditions which are still upheld, this plate depicts earlier time’s horse-drawn sleighs. Earlier horse-drawn sleighs were not uncommon, and in hard winters they were felt to be a safer maens of transportation than motor cars. To-day they are a rarity, but on farms where horses are still kept it does happen that the horse is hitched to the old sledge for the benefit of the children and the entertainment of the Christmas guests, evoking the atmosphere of a time when life was lived at a quieter and more human pace.
