1935 Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate, designed by Chr. Benjamin Olsen, has the title Fishing boat south of Elsinore Castle. The 1935 Christmas plate depicts a fishing boat, with a Christmas Tree in the top of its mast, sailing off Elsinore castle,a renaissance castle, built 1574-1585 by Frederik II with the purpose of collecting tolls from passing ships. The castle is known all over the world as the scenery of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Hamlet was first performed at Elsinore castle in 1816. Since then Elsinore castlehas often been the scenery of Shakespeare productions. Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate 1935 was only produced in 1935.
